Re: Ligatures
Yes, I wasn't intending to cast aspersions -- I'm in software development myself, and I understand that things have to be done in priority order and that what's important to me individually may not be what's needed by the user community at large. I was just expressing some disappointment that the fe...

Re: Ligatures
Yes, it's been well over a year now since Ivan assured us that support would be "added into one of the next build." This is a really significant handicap, and a fix would be very much appreciated.

Re: Ligatures (again)
Thanks very much -- that will be very helpful to me. As I mentioned in the original thread, the copy/paste issue is much less important, just a minor inconvenience, but not being able to search reliably is a big deal.

Ligatures (again)
In a post in this thread , dated June 22, 2008, Ivan said, Support for ligatures will be added in an upcoming build together with improving the text editor for supporting east asian languages, etc. However, the problems I mentioned in that thread (inability to search reliably for words containing li...

Re: Minor feature request: select search text
I've done yet more experimentation, and the problem appears to be related to using the "find next" button (the binoculars with the green arrow) to start a search instead of "enter". Here's a scenario that reproduces the problem for me: 1. Start PDF-XChange Viewer and open a docum...

Re: Minor feature request: select search text
I thought I had seen it working that way earlier, but it certainly was not working that way when I made that post. Based on your input, though, I investigated further and understand what is happening now. When you first search in a session, the search string is selected (highlighted) in the search t...

Minor feature request: select search text
This is a request for a minor change that would make searching easier. If I have already searched for a string and then want to search for something else, pressing ctrl-F moves the cursor into the box with the previous search text but does not select that text, meaning that I have to manually edit i...

Re: Ligatures
I'm glad to hear that this will be fixed sometime. I suggest that a search for a string containing regular text should find words with regular text and words with ligatures, but a search for a string containing ligatures should find only ligatures. I understand the functionality reason for wanting ...

Re: Ligatures
Build 38 is not even announced yet — it must be very new. I just updated. Yes. I just downloaded and started using PDF-Xchange Viewer yesterday for the first time, so when you mentioned that you were using the latest version, I figured that I had it, too. Just to make sure, though, I checked for up...

Re: Ligatures
Yes. I mean use the string in quotes, which uses the fi ligature from Alphabetic Presentation forms. I'm not sure exactly what you're saying here. What I did was to open the full search pane, type a double-quote followed by the five characters f-i-r-s-t followed by another double-quote, and then hi...

Re: Ligatures
Thanks for the suggestion, but unless I misunderstood what you were saying it doesn't work. I assume that what you meant was that I should enclose the string in quotes. I did that; the "find" command finds nothing, and the "search" command finds only the occurrences without the &...

Ligatures
A ligature is a typographical entity where two or three separate characters are connected into one. The most common English example is the sequence "fi", where the top of the "f" is extended to merge with the dot of the "i". I regularly work with a large document produc...
