No Links in Headercolumn of Word Document
Dear colleagues at Tracker software,
we are in the process of deciding to upgrade to PDF XChange 4 (currently we have a country licence for PDF XCange 3) and while testing we found the following problem, which we had already reported for Version 3 and was then corrected.(https://forum.pdf-xchange.com/ ... =14&t=1975).
The bug is "back again and we would ask if it can be corrected once more .
We want to include a Hyperlink in the headercolumn but PDF XChange does not translate the Hyperlink, it remains Text.
When we put the same Hyperlink in the normal Textbody it is properly turned into a clickable Link in the PDF.
You will find the Word.doc and the resulting PDF in the zip.file.
The text i refer to is the text in the header "Ihren Kommentar im Forum Verbraucherberatung"
I include a zip file with the orginal document and the pdf
Kind regards, Carsten

Re: Once again: No Links in Headercolumn of Word Document
Dear colleagues at Tracker Software,
i am sorry to report that the bug is back again. I just downloaded and installed the latest version and the problem occurs again. This - i´m sorry to say - is quite disappointing as it was promised after my last report of the problem, that the people in development would make sure that this bug will not show up again.
Could you please fix it and make sure that it is ensured this time that it does not come up again.
Kind regards, Carsten Lilge
P.S: I have attached as an example a word document ant the resulting PDF

Hello Carsten.
I'm afraid that this was another kind of bug (not the same as in begin of topic). Anyway that was already fixed.

Re: No Links in Headercolumn of Word Document
Hello Corwin,
thanks for the reply which i don´t really understand.
You say it is another another bug?
I don´t know about that, at least it causes the same problem, that is: in the resulting pdf links in header colum are not clickable links.
And the current bug - be it the old one or a new with the same annoying results - is not already fixed. It happens with the current version PDF-XChange 4 PRO v.4.0155 of 16 Jan, 2009, which i downloaded and installed today.
As we have puchased a country license and want to roll it out now to over 1000 persons we´d like to know when the bug will be fixed.
Kind regards, Carsten

Re: No Links in Headercolumn of Word Document
Well, the bug was fixed (today, right after you reply) but for now, not available for downloading. We will notify you when you can download updated version of PDF-XChange. Or if you want I can send you fixed dll file, just to check that new version works normally.

Re: No Links in Headercolumn of Word Document
Thanks, depends on how long it will take till new version is ready for download. If it is there by tomorrow, no problem, if it takes longer, then i´d appreciate the dll.file

New Variation: No Links in Headercolumn of Word Document
Hello,
we experience a new variation of the problem with links in headercolumn with the current version of PDF XChange 4 Pro (PDF-XChange 4.0.176.0), tested it with WIN XP Pro and Win 7, both systems fully updated.
PDF XChange creates a link in the headercolumn, but the link is only correct on the first page. In the headercolumns of the following pages PDF XChange inserts special characters into the links, and with every page it adds another special character (one on page two, two on page three, etc).
Result: the link does not lead you were it should (you will not be able to follow the link because it leads to our internal website). I have enclosed a document and a resulting PDF, you see the problem if you go to the second page of the PDF and look at the link in the headercolumn.
I hope you will be able to fix this because we work a lot with links in headercolumns.
Kind regards, Carsten

Re: No Links in Headercolumn of Word Document
Hello Corwin,
thanks for the response. Can you give us a timeline for the next build?
Because we are still using the build from before the security alert concerning PDF Viewer and would of course want to use the latest and secure version.
Kind regards, Carsten

Re: No Links in Headercolumn of Word Document
This should be some time next week - but you can always download and install the Viewer as a standalone item - this is the only product that needs updating with the security upgrade.

Re: No Links in Headercolumn of Word Document
Thanks for the info, but we will wait for the new build, as what we really need is PDF XChange in a version that translates the links correctly and do not want to have to do the install for 1500 users so often
