Can the toolbars be moved to the side of the window?
I use a laptop, exclusively. In PDF-Xchange Viewer, the toolbar icons are small, and I have them all in two vertical columns on the left side of the screen. This is essential for me because I need as much vertical space for documents as I can get. Unfortunately, in PDF-XChange Editor, the icons are larger and I can't move them into vertical columns on the side of the screen, so I don't have enough vertical space to read documents conveniently.
Questions:
1. Is it possible to shrink toolbar icon size so as to show as many icons in as little space as possible?
2. Is it possible to organize the toolbars into vertical columns along one side of the screen (instead of taking up valuable vertical screen space on laptops)?
3. If the answers to 1 or 2 are "no," how long will I be able to continue to use PDF-XChange Viewer?
Thank you.

I don't mean to say that PDF-XChange Editor isn't great. It is pretty awesome. I would prefer to use it. If you could make it easier to use on laptops, it would be fantastic. Ideally, there would be a setting that would move all the menus and toolbars to the left side of the window.

You could always use Fullscreen mode if vertical space is critical.
The interface can be customised extensively. I have moved the File/Edit menu bar to the bottom, and added toolbar icons to that. I have just one more toolbar at the top.
I am sure that you can work something out that uses the limited vertical space better. The horizontal space is useful for bookmarks, and other panels.

Here is a screenshot of the layout I've been using with PDF-XChange Viewer. I'd like to be able to do the something similar with Editor. Ideally, I'd also be able to move the top menu bar (File, Edit, View, etc.) to the side.

Re: Can the toolbars be moved to the side of the window?
Hi guys,
I'm afraid that it's not currently possible to dock these toolbars to the side. I'll have to check with the Dev. Team, as soon as I'm able, to confirm whether or not we're looking at adding this functionality.
For now though, your only option would be to try Bhikkhu's suggestions, or to make the toolbars smaller by left clicking and dragging upward.
Cheers,

Hi guys,
Have spoken to the Dev. Team and they've confirmed that we are going to be adding this, but for now we don't have an ETA.

Just so you know guys - this is not considered a high priority because of the work being done on the Ribbon UI. It will be some builds away yet...

Re: Can the toolbars be moved to the side of the window?
This is how I save space, with only one toolbar that has everything I use on a daily basis:
I moved all menus under the "File" Menu.
Please, can you make this an optional feature
Cheers

I know, it is off topic in this thread, but as it was mentioned here, I would like to support David P.'s request:
In other words: Please give the "conservative" users the opportunity to stay with the UI as it is now - without ribbons.David.P wrote: Ribbon UI

Hi Guys,
This is already planned as an optional feature, so no need to worry

Re: Can the toolbars be moved to the side of the window?
Has this option been added?
If so how do I move the toolbars to the side?
I work with documents which are in portrait mode while my laptop screen is in landscape mode.
this means I have only a small viewing slot onto the document but a lot of empty space at the sides.
If it must be I do not mind ribbons as long as they are movable to the side.
thanks a lot.

Hello samurex,
Thank you for the post and welcome to our forums. Unfortunately this function has not yet been added. The Ribbon UI should be implemented this autumn, and the ability to dock toolbars to the sides should shortly follow.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Re: Can the toolbars be moved to the side of the window?
I'd just like to keep this request alive. Like most folks with laptops, I have very limited vertical space on my screen. Currently, I use PDF Xchange Viewer with all the toolbars placed on the left side of the screen. When you add the ability to do this to PDF Xchange editor, I'll make the switch.
