Hello mre,

I am afraid that no it's not possible to specify custom styles for the line or any other tool.

Hi Stefan

Any plans to implement borders for custom lines in the future? We're using PDF-XChange to draw plans and got some new specifications (Lines with borders) which are sadly not possible to fulfill now.

Hi Michael,

Thanks for the post - Even if this is possible to add without breaking ISO Spec. conformance, it's quite complicated to implement and would likely not be viable, as editing in any other PDF reader would most probably cause the line to revert to their tool's default style, as their tool would not have the same "template" for that line style.
Thanks,

Will

Thanks for your quick answer. Thats understandable.

Another question: Is it possible to set the all the segments of a dashed line wider than 4px? (maybe even fully customizable)

Thank you very much!

Hello mre,

The width/size of the dashes will always be kept proportional - but the size itself cna be set to any value. The predefined ones in the drop down go up to 12 pt - but you can click that field and type in any value you want - e.g. 25pt :)

I'm looking into this functionality for users, as well. Too bad, would love to see this in the future if it ever becomes possible. We, too, are using the software to markup .pdf files on site, and need, for example, to be able to create a line type we could use in the polyline tool that would look something like this:

Code: Select all

- - - - SF - - - -

Hi msg,

Hopefully it will be possible in the future, but it's not likely to be possible for quite some time.

Cheers,

Hi there,

i did not want to open another Topic but i would like to bring the "Custom Style for Line" to your attention again as i think this would be extremely helpful; not only for me.

So is there any news on that? Or ist there any other way i could implement a custom line style?

Hello Christoph,

Could you please tell us how exactly do you want to customize the line?

A few examples will be appreciated.

Regards.

Hi everybody,
I would like to change the line format, but it seems I can't.

Here you can find the screenshot of the 2 lines, they have the same height but the would have been 8 for the first and 12 for the second

Can you pls help me?

Thanks a lot

Dear Dimitar, thanks for considering my question and sorry for not answering so long - I did not realize that there is no mail on reply :-)

as bespoken before it would be great to have the possibility to create own styles for the lines as for example:

Code: Select all

- - - - - -

Code: Select all

- - - - SF - - - -

Code: Select all

- - - -

Code: Select all

-------SF-------
which means the line consists of line parts and blank parts (as the existing linetypes but i would love to have more options and especially add some letters)

while SF means a placeholder for any letter

The more advanced thing would be the line or polyline with a text inside, please see my example

i hope this makes it more clear :-)

Best regards

Hello cfessler,

Unfortunately those 'patterns' have to be quite simple and will also be 'repeating' themselves frequently, so a custom style with a repeating text inside is not something that will be possible with a single tool. You can always add your line, and then add the white text over it with a separate tool.

Kind regards,
Stefan

But would it be possible to add a custom pattern of dashes, points blanks or so? so i could define that on my own? I am totally aware that it would be repetitive, thats totally fine!

this is what i am already doing as you could see :-)

Hello Christoph,

No it's not possible to add custom dash patterns I am afraid!

I would love to see a custom line style with X and O. The engineers here us X to indicate something to be removed and O to indicate something is to be added.

Hello, cadirkin

It has been a while since this topic was last updated, but I need to close this topic now with one final firm statement.
Unfortunately, at the moment, the ISO specification for PDF (as Stefan mentioned a few years ago) does not allow for these changes to occur. As such, until that changes, this will not be implemented, or considered by our Dev team.
