Search results unreadable with Override Document Colors

Post by avada »

Hi!

It's been bugging me for a long while, but I just realized that this issue is probably doesn't get fixed because it only happens when you override colors. So I tested with normal colors, it was no issue at all. The text color chosen by the program for the highlights in these cases is quite horrible and in some cases results in the text being completely unreadable. And guaranteed to be completely unreadable if the quicksearch and advanced search highlights happen to overlap.

Here's an example:

It seems like to me that PDFXE just ignores the actual colors and does highlights as if the text/background was the original color of the document.
I tried with creating a document of similar colors to those I have it changed with PDFXE, and I got usable highights:

PS:
You need to fix your forum engine:
"

Code: Select all

General Error
SQL ERROR [ mysql4 ]

Data too long for column 'post_subject' at row 1 [1406]
"

Increase the allowed length in the database (because a too short limit sucks for descriptive titles ) and limit it properly to avoid a mysql error.

Hi Avada,

Thanks for the post - I'll pass that along to the Devs.

As you noted, I had to truncate the subject to post due to the length of the title. I've forwarded your comments and the screen-shot of my error to our web devs.

Thanks,

Was this acknowledged as a bug by the devs?

I see there's a new version, which didn't change anything in this regard. (No changelog as usual...)

Hello Avada,

Apologies for the slow follow up of this!
I can't see the original inquiry Will made, so I've asked my colleagues once again. To me it does seem like a bug - so checking with the interface devs now how we can resolve this!

Regards,
Stefan

Hello Tracker Support,

Could you please let me know the current status of ticket #3960, it seems that even with build 385 the contrast between the highlighted text and the highlights in the search results is still low and difficult to see.

The following is the result of enabling Override Document Colors and setting only the Page Background Color to hex color #F6F6F6.

  • Page Background Color set to hex color #F6F6F6
Page Background Color set to hex color #F6F6F6

Personally, I prefer to set a very light color instead of white for the background to avoid eye fatigue, but as soon as I do that, the color of the text in the search results turns white, making the search results very difficult to see. I try to disable Override Document Colors each time I search, but I hope that this problem will be fixed one day.

Best regards,
rakunavi

Yeah, I don't think anything changed. As a clunky workaround I use the "advanced criteria" feature and "any of these words". And and random text for the first word and any othe highlights in later words that are particularly unreadable.
Mainly the first and fifth word by the looks of it. (if I get es far) Of course the first has to be the worst...
