Unable to set PDF Editor as default software for pdf in W10

Post by Frenchwolfie »

Hello, Every time I set PDF Editor as my default software for PDF, W10 disregards it and cannot retain the configuration. Did anyone have the same issue and if yes, how did you solve it? TIA

Hello Jérôme,

Latest versions of Win10 make it quite hard to set up file associations directly through the software, so please try to do it directly through windows.
Right click any PDF file and from the context menu select Open With -> Chose Another App (the last option) , and in the new pop-up window that will open make sure to click the "Always use this..." checkbox.

Regards,
Stefan

Hi, Thank you for your reply. That won't work out right. W10 would not retain the PDF-XChange association. See https://www.dropbox.com/s/me2a0t8f0fu49 ... 3.jpg?dl=0 and https://www.dropbox.com/s/2trx7zj09p8iw ... 8.jpg?dl=0. The only working association is with Microsoft Edge.

Hello Frenchwolfie,

This is a windows/Edge problem then - so please try something like the following:

Did you try 'Windows Settings' -> 'Choose a default app for each type of file' ?
