Install help?

Hello! We are using TIFF x-change in our product, and as such we are silently running your install within our own install.

Unfortunately, running your install in this manner has caused our install to behave in an unexpected manner. On some systems, we receive an error indicating that Data Execution Prevention has stopped the install from running. In other situations, though we have configured our install to wait until your silent install is done before continuing, our install immediately continues to run (leaving yours running in the background - and not necessarily finished - by the time ours is done).

We think that these problems could be greatly simplified if we could merge your install directly into our own. As such, we were wondering if you had a version of the TIFF X-Change install in MSI form, or if you had a Merge Module version of the TIFF x-Change install.

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi,

We have been testing MSI based installers for some considerable time and find generally they are extremly cumbersome and problematic when install device drivers - you may also note that you will find very few device driver based products curently using MSI technology fior this reason.

To allos us to assist can you please give more detailed info regarding the problems you are having and any pattern etc - for example all OS's or a specific OS (e.g. Vista XP etc)

If you can isolate a given example - you can use the /L switch on the TIFF-XChange install command line to create a log file - this would be most helpful.
