So page extraction is the current method of doing so, just as I thought (and used). Thanks for the explanation.

One drawback of this is that this does not work with the free version, whereas "Split document" does.

That is strange, Split Socument is not intended to be a free feature, as it does create a new document, and document creation is a paid function. In my tests, splitting does require a license as well, so that "drawback" you mention should not exist.
Free users, much like licensed users, can still make use of the thumbnails pane or extract tools to extract content from a document. The only limitation, much like with the split document tool, is that Demo stamps will be applied when saving the file.

Version 338 free ("Dokument aufteilen"). Maybe it was fixed in a later version?!



Also no stamps in the final documents after splitting.

Perhaps there was a bug in that version which accidentally left that function enabled in the free version. Regardless, it is not intended to be a free feature, and should apply demo stamps any time it is used without a license.
