How to insert all pages from other currently loaded pdf doc?

Post by mattad »

Assume I loaded two pdf files into XChange editor.

Then I scrolled in pdf No 1 to page 10 (out of 20) and want to insert all pages from pdf No 2 after page 10.

How can I achieve this?

If I click on "Insert Pages" users have to search for an external pdf file on hard disk.. This is uncomfortable.

XChange editor should offer me in a drop down all currently loaded pdf documents as source to be inserted.

In good old XChange Viewer this was easily possible.

How does this work in XChange editor?

How?
- When you are at page 10 in "pdf No 1" (and "pdf No 2" is also open):
- Click in the Organize-ribbon on Insert > Insert Pages
- In the "Insert Pages"-dialog-box:
- Click the small arrow (just before the Browse... icon)
Now you should get a list of all other open pdf's
- Select the desired pdf (in your example "pdf No 2")
- Still in the "Insert Pages":
-- at "Page Range", make sure that "All" is selected
-- at "Destination > Location", select "After"
-- at "Destination > Page", select "Current: 10"
- Click "OK"

Hello Willy,

Thanks for this nice tutorial.

mattad, you can also copy pages between documents using the Thumbnails Pane. The process is described in the following article:

@Willy van Nuffel:

Ok, thank you.

I was just confused because in old XChange Viewer the (first) other, loaded pdf was already pre-selected in Drop Down.
This way users save a few clicks for Insert operation.

In Xchange Editor its now a step back in user friendlyness.
Users now ALWAYS have to click into Drop Down and select another (only possible) pdf file for insertion.

Any chance to setup the XChange Viewer (with pre-selected first pdf) way in XChange Editor too?

@mattad
In PDF-XChange Editor, when opening the "Insert Pages" dialog-box, there is no (open) pdf pre-selected.
Like you mentioned here, in PDF-XChange Viewer it was.

@Tracker Support
Any chance that this behavior is going to change ?

Kind regards.

I expect it is unlikely to see us going back to that handling, but I can certainly pass the idea on to the Dev team and see what they think.
