Why not make it so that you can customize the "roundness" of the highlight tool.
Wouldn't that be easy to do?
Here for example you can see that the corners are square below, and round above.

At first I thought that the way highlighted text looked depended on the software, but here it seems like they are shapes, just as rectangles, which you should be able to customize the shape of/ how they appear, right? )

Unfortunately that idea was proposed while we spoke of changing the appearance due to the aforementioned large volume of requests, it was declined by the dev team and is no longer being considered at this time.

Would you now again consider adding an option under "style" for whether you want to use the traditional rounded highlight appearance, or the newer square one?
Sometimes I am editing a document which already has rounded corners, which would make me want to use the same style... and not ruin the esthetics by using another highlight "style"

However, I think both look good, and an option to choose between the two would be great.
