How do I create a fillable PDF form?
I want to create a pdf form that I can send to someone and have them fill out then return to me.
How can I do that with PDF-XChange?
While a full tutorial on using Web Forms is beyond the scope of this document, following is an overview of the process as used to create a simple PDF form with text areas, a drop down selection box and radio buttons.
Please note that the solution below is only valid for Office 2003 as in 2007 and 2010 Microsoft did make quite some changes that prevent us from creating fillable froms in those versions of office. A dedicated forms edittor is planned to be released as a plug-in for PDF Viewer 2011 (after the initial release of the new Viewer)
Check that the PDF-XChange Office Addin is set to "Convert Web Forms" Configure Preferences Toolbar Item --> Word Options --> Convert Web Forms ![]()
Export the document to PDF using the Office Addin export Tool bar icon. Note that using the File --> Print --> PDF-XChange method to create a PDF document will not result in a fill-able form. You must use the Office Addin Tool bar for this.
Open the PDF document in PDF-XChange Viewer and you can fill out the form.![]()
