How do I predefine default User preferences when deploying the PDF-XChange Driver?

Knowledge Base Article: KB262 - Created On: Apr 16, 2010 09:50 AM - Last Modified: May 2, 2012 06:23 AM

Objective

You have a large number of installations to perform within an organization - often you will want to set up some default preferences for the PDF-XChange Printer, perhaps Custom Paper Sizes, Resolution or DPI settings - or a host of other options.

Purpose

To avoid installing on every users system and then modifying individual users system settings and also perhaps restricting to some degree the users motivation to play with these settings independently ...

Resolution

PDF-XChange Standard and PDF-XChange PRO versions of the PDF-XChange Print driver (please note the LITE version does not allow this)  from Version 2 and later allow the option to set up on a single PC with the desired configuration, save these modified printer preferences to a 'Profile' and then export this profile to a file - for distribution using our silent installation options throughout a large organization.

This is described and outlined in the Help file provided - users should see the topics for 'Profiles' and also "Silent Installation'.

Note: when using our MSI installer - you will need to use an '.ini' file to aid in the installation of a 'Profile' as MSI based installers embed the required detail in this manner.
