When I click on a link to a PDF document using Mozilla Firefox the browser launches PDF-XChange Viewer as a stand alone application when what I really want is to see the PDF within the Firefox browser.
The plugin is not correctly registered.
From within PDF-XChange Viewer select:
Edit --> Preferences --> File Associations --> Display in Browser.

In Windows Vista and Windows 7 the UAC should prompt you at accept the change.
Our second step will be to confirm it is the default PDF application in Firefox. Go to Tools->Options->Applications within Firefox and confirm the content type for Adobe Acobat Document is set to use PDF-XChange Viewer in Firefox.

Newer versions of Firefox
Recently the Mozilla Foundation ( makers of Firefox) have changed their release cycle. New versions are coming out is very rapid succession with short development cycles. This makes it hard for third parties to keep up. We do our best to keep the addin working.
In Firefox 11 it bacame apparent to us that in order for the PDF-Xchange add-on/plugin to work you may need to take the additional step of disabling the Adobe plugin if present. It seems that it it overriding the old methods. Go to the Firefox Add-ons manager then the Plugins tab, ensure that the PDF-XChange Viewer Add-on is enabled and disable the Adobe plugin:

This should allow PDF-Xchange to function as the plugn for PDF files.
