How do I renumber PDF pages using PDF-Tools?

 I have a PDF document that I have put together with pages from different documents.  The pages numbers printed on these pages no longer match the page order in the document.  I want to renumber the pages to suit.

When you put pages from different documents into a new document the page numbers prineted on the pages will likely no longer be correct for your new document.

Use PDF-Tools to put new page numbers on your document pages.

Start PDF-Tools and select Edit Page/Content Settings:

Click Start then either type the path to your PDF document inthe text field or browse to the PDF file that you wish to renumber and the path will be shown in the next screen:

Once opened the next sreen shows details of the page dimensions for each page. :

The next screen allows you to set parameters for your PDF document like the backwards compatibilty with oler versions of Adobe Reader.:

To renumber pages select the 'Advanced' tab, check the 'Use Page Re/Number check bos and then click the 'Setup' button.:

The setup screen has options for placing the new page numbers on the page.  There are macros available for customizing the automated generation of the string that will be placed as well as options for size, font and position on the page.:

The next screen allows specifying parameters for naming the resultant file and it's location.  Again macros can be employed for additional auto-generated names.:

Click 'Process' to create the new PDF with page numbers as set up.:

The following screen for many users will in fact be the last needed. 

If generating the file and saving it is all that is required then click 'Finish'.  If you wish to email the resultant file or send it somewhere via FTP the subsequent screens help you do that.
