In the event you are having a problem creating a PDF from a specific and perhaps less well known application or where we cannot replicate here a problem you have locally - we may sometimes ask you to send us the 2 temporary file's that PDF-XChange creates as part of the PDF file creation process.
This will often allow us to see where a specific fault or compatibility issue may arise as it can contain valuable additional data.
Please follow these instructions if requested to do so.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
1: Hold the 'CTRL, ALT and DEL' keys down just once together to bring up the Windows 'Task Manager' - this should bring up a list of running programs - from this select 'PDFSaver3.exe' for Version 3 or 'PDFSaver4.exe' for Version 4 - and close it or 'End Process'
2: Select the Windows 'Start' Button and then from the list of options select 'Run'
3: In the command line Window - type or copy/paste as follows including the quote marks !
"C:\Program Files\Tracker Software\PDF-XChange 3 Pro\pdfSaver\pdfSaver3.exe" /tweak /show
for V3
or
"C:\Program Files\Tracker Software\PDF-XChange 4 Pro\pdfSaver\pdfSaver4.exe" /tweak /show
for V4
(assumes you have PDF-XChange PRO and acceptd the default installation location - otherwise you will need to amend for the correct info)
4: This will bring up the PDFSaver main window with some extra options as shown in the attached screenshot - under the 'Settings' TAB window.
5: Tick the box that says 'Dont remove Temp files'
6: Make the PDF file from your software program that causes the issue
7: Then look in your windows default temp folder :
e.g: C:\Documents and Settings\your user name\Local Settings\Temp
** where the user name is your login name **
and there will be a file with a name like : pxcXXXX.tmp, where XXXX is an hexadecimal number which has 1-4 digits - there will also be a file with the extension 'xml' if you used the Office Toolbar Addin option to create the PDF file - e.g. : pdfXXXXX.xml or use the windows search option for a file 'pxc*.tmp' with todays date
Please ZIP these files and send to :
usrfiles@tracker-software.com by email.
if you don't zip these they will be removed by our virus/firewall software and we will not receive - so please do ZIP the files and send.
8: Now go back to the PDFSaver and reverse the actions in item 3-5 above to 'tick off' the option to keep the temp files so your hard disk is not retaining these files - or you will find your hard disk fills rapidly !
If all goes we will look at your files when they are ready.
Thank you.
