When I print, say a word doc, to pdf, the pdf opens and I am forced to save it. The printing progress stalls, a save as directory opens asking me to save file. If I do save it then pdf opens. Any way I can have pdf open without saving it?

Re: print to pdf without saving file
Hello Rob,
You've posted in the OCR forum, and I believe your question is slightly different.
I am afraid that you need to save the PDF before opening it, as our tools need to generate it, and only then the Viewer can open it. Otherwise there's no reason to convert a .doc to .pdf in the first place - you can see the DOC file itself if needed.
Best,
Stefan

Re: print to pdf without saving file
Nothing more but an idea to help...
In the "Printing preferences" of the "PDF-XChange"-printer, you can - via the Settings tab - change the 'Save' parameters.
To avoid that the 'Save As' dialogbox pops up, you can uncheck "Show 'Save As' dialog", and choose a default "Path" and a default "File Name".
To avoid a warning about overwriting the previous version, you can - at "When file exists" - choose "Always overwrite" or - if you want to keep each version - choose "Auto Number".
In eather case, the PDF will be saved, but the printing (to PDF) process will not be interrupted.

Re: print to pdf without saving file
As Willy has advised - you can create the PDF without having to offer a name and path - these can be prescibed using Macro's if you wish ...
See the print preferences for your options under the 'Save' page properties and the help file also gives more detail.

If posting files to this forum - you must archive the files to a ZIP, RAR or 7z file or they will not be uploaded - thank you.

Thanks for replies. Willy's suggestion fixed this issue for me.
