Two issues in searching words using Find-Toolbar

Post by coba »

Hello Forum!
I would appreciate some help with two issues –especially the second. So, this is the case.

When searching within a document for a word using the Find-toolbar, the Editor does two things:

a) In the right of the document, inside the “scroll-bar”, small blue signs (or lines) appear, giving a representative “account” of all the instances of the word.
–Issue: This doesn’t happen in all PDF documents. Any idea why is that?

b) Inside the text the word is highlighted with blue color in all its instances. So that when using the arrows to jump to the next instance one sees immediately the word he searches for. If that wasn’t happening, the Find-toolbar would be in vain.
–Issue: unfortunately, quite often this search is indeed in vain for that reason… Although by using the arrows one is directed to the pages where the word occurs, inside the same document the word is sometimes highlighted and other not. This is a bit frustrating when dealing with extended documents which contain the word “in-numerous” times, because one has to eye-search for the word in order to find it in the text. This issue is far more important from the previous. Any help here?

Thank you in advance,
coba

Hi coba,

Thanks for the post - Can you check the build of the Editor you're using? These were both known issues in a previous release, so if you're using anything other than build 319, please download and install the update here:
https://www.pdf-xchange.com/PDFXVE6.zip

While improvements were made with regards to the second issue, we were informed that this was not entirely solved in some cases, but I'm given to understand this has likely been remedied completely for the next build.

Thanks,

Hello after all this time!

Due to unexpected issues I couldn't come back earlier.
Indeed, I had build 318. So, I installed build 319, as suggested.
Of the two problems I addressed, the second and most important one still occurs...["Although by using the arrows one is directed to the pages where the word occurs, inside the same document the word is sometimes highlighted and other not."]
So, I think it's something to pass along for consideration.

Until now, it appears that the first problem I addressed is fixed, although I am not sure yet -but it's not so important.

Thank you,
coba

The first remark about the blue signs in the scrollbar depends of:
1) the number of pages and the number of occurrences of the word you are searching for, and
2) the actual page view:
>> the views Continuous and Two Pages Continuous show the blue signs,
>> the other views, Single Page and Two Pages, do not show them.

Best regards.

Unbelievable! :o So, the devil is in the details! Thank you for that!
I actually appreciate that detail, it's quite specific and sophisticated!
I 'll be looking forward for the other one in a new build of the Editor!
