Keep Pdf-Xchange Editor Plus open

Post by michel mooser »

Hello,
I am using extensively the Pdf-Xchange Editor but as soon as I have finished to visualize documents, I close them (for confidentiality reasons). (I am using the preference allowing to open all the document in a single window) Once the last document is closed, the Pdf-Xchange Editor closes itself. I would like it to remain open to avoid the opening latency. Is there a way to do it ?
thanks in advance

I think this depends of the way on how you close your documents in PDF-XChange Editor V6.

You can click the cross in the upper right corner of the application window, or you can click the cross in the upper right corner of the document pane. If you always use this last one, then PDF-XChange Editor should not close when you close the last PDF.

Best regards.

Do you mean that you setup Editor to open each document in its own window? Do you close those windows via ALT-F4?

Closing documents should not close the last open Editor window as long as you don't use ALT-F4 (or cross in the upper left corner that closes the app).

Best way of closing documents is to use CTRL-W, works for many other applications (including browser and Windows explorer), too.

Thanks for the CTRL-W (oddly enough I am not using this shortcut)

For your information Willy, the last document has no tab which would allow you to close only this last document with a click on the cross in the upper right corner. Thus to close the last document, you have to close the application (except if you use CTRL-W which allows you to close the last document with the application left open)

Thanks a lot for your help

CTRL-W is also used of Mac OS for closing (sub-)windows, so it's a useful shortcut that became a de facto standard.

Using CTRL + W will probably be the best solution.

As an answer for michel mooser: I wonder if maybe the option "Hide tab bar when only single document is opened" has also been checked. In that case there is no cross for closing the document pane. See attached 'print screens'.

Best regards.

For mouse-users there also are the following menu entries: "File -> Close", "File -> Close All" and "Window -> Close all".
