Editor starts not maximized

Post by fkbreitl »

PDF-XChange Editor does not start with a maximized window.
Instead there is a border to top, bottom, left, right of about 5%.
It is very annoying to maximize the window all the time.
The PDF-XChange Viewer does not have this problem.
It would be very helpful if PDF-XChange Editor would start maximized as the Viewer.

Hello fkbreitl,

This would mean that the Editor is launching in a non maximized window.
Please try to press the "maximize" button, and then close the Editor. The next start should be with the Editor maximized and fully utilizing your screen space.

Hello Stefan,

Very strange, now it works.
It seems like it didn't work before.
I had to maximize it many times and was wondering why it never remembers the maximized setting.
If I see this happening again maybe I can give more information when this happens.
But for now the problem seems solved.

Thank you

Ho Frank,

It's a mystery why it didn't work before, but glad to hear it does now!
If it happens again - feel free to post here again!

For now - lets consider it solved though! :)

Cheers,
Stefan

Hello Frank and Stefan,

I could confirm that effect and I suppose it is a bug.

In my case it is in Windows 7 64bit. The start menu shortcut is on "open always maximized", but XChange Editor (322.7 64bit and earlier) ignores it, if another pdf file is still open.
Opening the first pdf file: window size depends on state when closing last pdf file (closing maximized file, next one opens maximized).

But when one pdf file is open, opening a second pdf file (in a second program instance) leads to a non-maximized window! This behaviour is different to other Windows applications. Normally, you can open multiple instances, and all are maximized.

Thanks for the input xchangeit,

we have a major new version release in the pipe, just a few weeks away now, we won't likely be making many changes to V6 as all effort is going into the new version. Lets see how this new version performs in this regards and if there is still an issue we will revisit this subject then?

Does that sound reasonable?
