How to stop auto opening of pdf

When I save a word document as a pdf (Save As xxx.pdf), a preview automatically opens.
I want to know how to stop that from happening – for all not just one specific pdf.

Several possibilities, depending of the way that you create the PDF:

1) Via File > Save As > Save as type = PDF:
Uncheck "Open file after publishing" in the "Save As" dialog box.

2) Via the additional tab "PDF-XChange V6":
In the "PDF-XChange V6"-tab, click the Edit Settings icon, and then click the "Advanced" tab.
Uncheck "Run Default PDF Application for PDF Files After Conversion".

3) Via File > Print > PDF-XChange Standard V6 printer:
Click "Printer Properties" > Save (in the column at the left), and uncheck "Run Application After Printing".
