Send By Email Problems

Post by pingpongrob »

Hi All, not sure if i'm posting this in the correct thread, I recently updated to the latest version of PDF-XChange Editor Plus, version 6.0 (build 322.7)
All of a sudden my send by email just does not function. In fact it seems to do nothing.

I've check the settings, and there seems to be nothing to change. Has anyone else had issues.
I'm running Windows 10, and still use outlook 2007, it has worked fine until recently.

I'd appreciate any help.

Hello,

Just did a short test.

PDF-XChange Editor V6 - build 322.7 seems to work correctly when you open a PDF and then click File > Send by E-mail.

Normally, you can verify which mail client the Editor is going to use, via:
- File > Send by E-mail... > Manage... or via Edit > Preferences... > Send Mail

If you like to set Microsoft Outlook 2007 as your default Mail Client in Windows 10, then:
- go into Windows Control Panel, and click "Default Programs" > "Set your default programs", and ... wait for a while ...
- in the list/column with Programs, select "Microsoft Outlook" and click "Set this program as default"
- click OK to confirm and close the Default Programs window.

Now, start PDF-XChange Editor and try again.

I hope this works for you.

Hallo an alle,

Hi all,

ukiri - welcome to our forums, but those are English only unfortunately, so we won't be able to provide help in German.

I have just tested with a RC of the upcoming Editor build - and it did open my Outlook correctly (even though my default mail client for daily use is Thunderbird), so that issue seems to have been resolved.
The new build should be available for download by everyone later today.

Regards,
Stefan

Udo is telling us that, since the update to Windows 10 Build 1709, sending e-mail does not work anymore via PDF-XChange Editor.
Can someone tell him a solution?
For information: Outlook is set as the default mail-application in Windows. So, that can not be the reason (why it does not work).

Maybe Udo can check if Outlook automatically starts when for example clicking on a hyperlink like mailto:support@pdf-xchange.com

This will already give an indication.

Willy,

Using Windows 10 build 1709.

I created a PDF via MS Word 2007 that had a hyperlinked email.

When I clicked on this link in PDF Editor, it worked.

Just cannot open email from the PDF attachment / email icon.

Myself, I still have Windows 10 Home - 32-bit - version 1703, and I do not have the problem.

Check this:

https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Fo ... um=outlook

Mentioned as fix:
- Ensure Outlook is set as the default Mail client
- Close Outlook
>>For 32 bit versions of Outlook...
- Delete Msmapi32.dll located C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\system\MSMAPI\1033\
>>For 64 bit versions of Outlook... (I think this is the right path??)
- Delete Msmapi32.dll located C:\Program Files\Common Files\system\MSMAPI\1033\
- Run fixmapi.exe
- Open Outlook (Outlook will replace & register the Msmapi32.dll and then open).
- Try the "Send To > Mail Recipient" again.

NOTE: Take care, myself I can not run a test of this. So, I can not give you any guarantee ...

Hi All,

Once again thanks for the help Willy!

pingpongrob - did you manage to get this working?

I am personally using TBird as the default mail client, but I do have Outlook installed - and the Editor (323.0) works perfectly fine with both of them for the send an e-mail feature on a Win 10 x 64 (upgrade from Win 7).

Stefan
