Editor Plugin SDK

Post by aaronrh »

Hi,

We are looking at writing a plugin for Editor that would allow us to intercept the save and open commands inside Editor in order to save the files using our own logic. It has been suggested to me that the Editor SDK provides a way of doing this. However, I cannot find any information in the SDK other than the following comment that would suggest how, or even if this is possible:
Developers can also create their own plug-ins for use by their clients or offer to other 3rd party developers or indeed to our own PDF-XChange Editor End-User clients of which their are many millions, please contact us directly for further information should you wish to create a Plug-In for use by licensed end users of the PDF-XChange Editor.
As far as I can tell the Editor SDK would allow us to host a copy of the Editor in our own application and then trap the save/open events to run our custom logic but it will not allow us to create a plugin that runs inside of the Editor application to handle this requirement. Several others on the forum seem to have a similar requirement and have been told that there is a Plugin SDK in the works, but no release date has been provided:

https://www.pdf-xchange.com/forum3 ... sdk#p71914

https://www.pdf-xchange.com/forum3 ... dk#p110189

So, my questions are:

Is my investigation of the capabilities of the Editor SDK as it stands today correct?

Is there a Plugin SDK in the works that would allow a plugin to be developed to run inside the Editor application, and if so when can we expect it?

Thanks in advance,

Aaron.

Hello Aaron,

The Editor Plugin SDK is not yet available. We do plan to release it but sadly I can't tell you the precise date.

Cheers,
Alex
