EMF Gridding Issue
When opening a large .emf file (200-400 MB's) a grid is being displayed over top of the image. Has anyone encountered this issue/come up with a solution

Hello mschellenberg,
Thank you for your post, and welcome to our forums! Please try going to View> Show and make sure that grid is not selected. Failing that, please do send us the emf and PDF in question so that we can investigate this further.
Thank you!

Re: EMF Gridding Issue
Hello,
Myself, I have the impression that the grid is part of the PDF itself.
I can open your PDF, but it seems to be too heavy to be handled by PDF-XChange Editor on my computer.
The Editor is 'hanging' all the time.
I hope that Tracker Software Support can give you some advise in this.
Best regards.

Re: EMF Gridding Issue
Hi guys,
indeed it is in the document. Each square of this grid is defined as it's own path. Adobe renders it the same way as we do.
I hope that helps.

Re: EMF Gridding Issue
I'll see if i can scale it down to give you the comparison of paint opening the file vs pdf-xchange, in paint there is no gridding visible. I am thinking there is some sort of conversion process that PDF Xchange does to make an EMF viewable.

Re: EMF Gridding Issue
Hello mschellenberg,
If Adobe is also rendering this file the same as we do - then the difference might be that Pain uses different algorithms, or rounding/smoothing of pixel values.
Please do prepare the smaller samples and we will take a further look into this!
Regards,
Stefan

Re: EMF Gridding Issue
I have scaled it down to within the size limit but am unable to post the .emf file i am opening in PDF-Exchange.
Below you will find the results of opening it in Microsoft Paint (what it should look like) vs PDF-Xchange, let me know if there is a way i can upload the .emf file some other way.

Re: EMF Gridding Issue
Hello mschellenberg,
Please zip the smaller .emf file first - and then you should be able to attach the archived version of the same without issues.
I do see the problem from the samples you provided, but we will need the original .EMF as well to be able to run some tests on it ourselves.
Regards,
Stefan

Re: EMF Gridding Issue
Thanks for the file mschellenberg,
I am checking with a colleague from the dev team now - and see what he has to say about that EMF file.
It seems like something happens with the conversion process, but I only have Adobe's Acrobat Reader (free version) that can't convert it to PDF itself to check their result!

Stefan

Re: EMF Gridding Issue
I have opened the Small Sample.EMF in IrfanView, PDF-XChange Editor, MS Word 2010, Windows Paint.
See print screens in the attached ZIP file.
When the EMF is being opened with PDF-XChange Editor, we see more of it than in the other applications.
It seems like there has been done a kind of "crop" on the original picture, but the parts that have been cut are still present in the file.
To me it is not clear if the EMF should be shown like in the Editor, or like in the other applications?
Maybe, the EMF has not been saved correctly?

Hi mschellenberg,
We are aiming for before the end of the month.
The provisional date is 27 - next Monday, but it might be a day or two later depending on how some last minute things are progressing!
Regards,
Stefan

Just wondering if we are still on track for a version 7 release today?

Hello mschellenberg,
Unfortunately a critical bug was discovered with the PDF Saver, so we are working on fixing that at the moment, so unfortunately it look like there will be a 24 hour delay in the release.
Regards,
Stefan

Re: EMF Gridding Issue
Did we get pushed back an additional day? I apologize for the repeated release inquiries however, I currently have a broken business process that is relying on this release and if this release does not resolve our issue, initiating a process to create a completely different work flow for this task.

New build (version) will be released today. Releases are published by our Canadian office as usual afternoon PST time. And it also takes some time while files will be available in the cloud.
