Is it posible to redirect a printjob to a file?

Post by Robbi »

Most printer dialogs display a checkbox for sending the printjob to a file. We are currently evaluating the Viewer SDK and are missing this feature.
Is it possible to activate this checkbox or (much better) is it possible to send the printers data directly to a file by an API call?

Hi Robbi,

can you advsie what type of file you wish to Print to - i.e. a PRN file ?
If posting files to this forum - you must archive the files to a ZIP, RAR or 7z file or they will not be uploaded - thank you.

Best regards

Yes, that's the normal target file type when redirecting ;-) It contains the printer codes...

Background info:
We have to print a big pdf file in several parts (i.e. page 1-50, 51 - 100, 101 -...) into a PRN file. Between every single part we have to add some printer specific codes to the resulting PRN file.

Well, that sounds very good
But...

... is there a published roadmap for the next several builds?

When will you publish the build with the new print option?

Thanks a lot for your very quick replies!! :!: :!:

Will there be a feature to "Print to PDF"?
Sometimes user needs to split parts of the pages to another pdf file.

You can use an universal pdf printer driver like FreePDF or the PDFXChange editor tools.
