Hello Everybody

I am not able to view some PDF correctly.
And, after a lot of search, I found that this Problem is due to the "Preview overprinting" which must be activated.
I didn't find this Option anywhere :(

Momently, my Company works with the Version 5.5 (Build 315.0)
I saw, it isn't the first time this subject have been discussed on this Forum but, I have the same issue, and I nerver found up which Version this Option was added.

Could you please help me?

Thank you in advance for your Feedback
David

Hello dmetzger ,

Welcome to our forums.
Can you please attach one such sample file to this topic (or if sensitive - send it to support@pdf-xchange.com with a link back to the topic) - and we will take a look?

Regards,
Stefan

Hi David,

Thanks for that - This document renders the same in the latest release of the Editor, for me, as in Adobe. Please download and test the latest release and advise on the results:

I just fan into the same issue when trying to view some artwork sent from a Vendor. In adobe, with overprint preview enable, the art displays properly, but in the most recent version of Xchange Editor ( Ver 6 322.7 ) the fonts and graphics appear washed out and pixelated. Had to switch back to Adobe to view and ok the artwork.

I know this proof we received was generated by a CREO DTP system.

This is the first time this issue has appeared for us. Why does Xchange not have this as an option in settings ?

Hello mlier,

Can we have a copy of the file you are having issues with to take a look at it directly?

As for the Overlay preview support - this is quite a specialised tool - so we are currently working on things that have been deemed higher priority, and as such this is not yet implemented. It might be added in the future.

Stefan

Hello Stefan,

I still have the issue, that I cannot see the PDF files where there is an overprint. With the Adobe Acrobat Reader I can open it and see the text if I change the settings, but in PDF-XChange Editor I still cannot see option to switch it on. I am using the latest release.

Hello AndrĂ¡s,

I am afraid that options to turn on/off overprint colours is still not possible in the Editor.

Stefan

is want to revive this quite aged thread as the overprint preview issue just has been raised in our company. we receive pdf files from our suppliers for review. in the past this has been done in acrobat reader by changing the following setting: ctrl + k for preferences -> categorie page display -> use overprint preview. the default is "only for pdf/x files" and has to be switched to "always" in order to get the correct preview rendering. we have installed the latest pdf-xchange editor 9.5.366.0. unfortunately there is no setting similar to the one in adobe reader. is there any plan to include such option in a future release of pdf-xchange editor or is there kind of a workaround in the current release version (i can provide a sample pdf if required)? thanks a lot.

HI Peter,

thanks for the post. Overprint is as you see, not currently supported. It is not a small or trivial thing and it opens a whole can of worms as to other print related functionality. It has not enjoyed a high priority with us to date.

We recognize the need to look further into this and have committed to doing so. There is a formal Feature Request for it, RT#6158: FR: Add overprint handling to the Editor.

I should let you know thast because of the nature of the task it will not be done for the initial release of Version 10 in the spring, but some time after that. Unfortunately we cannot give a more accurate ETA at this juncture, there are simply too many variable involved to do so right now.

We are aware of this and we are looking into it.

I hope that helps.

hey paul,

thanks a lot for this super fast reply. this is real good news for us, as a whole department of us is relying on this feature. this is the only reason for us to have both pdf-xchange editor and adobe acrobat reader installed on their machines. so we are standing by and patiently waiting for the implementation and release of this feature.

kind regards
peter

Hello, peter.altherr

I am afraid that it does not appear this has made it into V10, though that is about as paul mentioned, it would not make it into the initial release, and development on it should be starting shortly after we get the next bugfixing focused build out. I still cannot promise a timeline, but hopefully we can see it in one of the next handful of build releases.

Kind regards,
