URL's no longer accessible

Post by turnkeydrs »

until yesterday I was able to create a PDF doc from a Microsoft office app (e.g. powerpoint) and then open in PDF Xchange v 9 build 354.0 and click on a menu button which had a URL link and then i would be redirected to the URL.

However, today - PDF Xchange treats the menu button as if there is NO URL - no errors no redirection :<<
.. .. however, when i open the same PDF under chrome i am able to click on the menu button of the pdf file and be immediately redirected. so something fishy with Xchange..

Hi turnkeydrs

thanks for the post and report. What method are you using for the conversion? One can Print to the PDF-XChange Printer, use the Office Add-In or even drag the PowerPoint into the Editor to convert. Which way are you doing may I ask?
Best regards

Hi Paul,
I am using the office Export feature - in word or powerpoint .. File -> Export -> PDF -> publish
by the way i downloaded another PDF view and the pdf file was working well.
i just checked doc properties and security of the pdf .. no security.. permission details ->.. all state "allowed" and printing high resolution.

Thanks David

Verify if "Enable JavaScript Actions" is turned ON in PDF-XChange Editor, via File > Preferences > JavaScript ?

Hi Dimitar
please find attached an example.
when click on the button it should redirect you to google.com home page.
if not try sending it via whatsapp and then download and view in the browser (e.g. chrome).. it works there.

Best Regards,
David

Hi,

The button in the document is a picture with a hyperlink on it. It is not a form-button, but that should not be a problem.

At my side, the hyperlink is working correctly in PDF-XChange Editor build 367 (and also in build 354).
So, the pdf-document itself seems to be OK.

Myself, I have no idea why hyperlinks should not be working in PDF-XChange Editor, except Security-settings, but in that case there should always be a warning-message (see File > Preferences > Security > When document is trying to open a site).

Maybe first back-up your settings (via File > Manage Settings > Export Settings) and after that, try with a re-install ?
If re-install does not help, then go a step further, and try Reset Settings.

Best regards.

Thanks for the file.

The button works on my end too!

+1 for the Settings Reset

Please check if you have these options enabled, even so, they are not affecting the hidden links:

Also, please open the links pane and check if the link is visible there:

So, "Reset Settings" did the trick.
