I have a problem with Installer Error 2502 or 2503

While trying to uninstall/update the software, you are seeing one of the following error messages (Error code 2502 / Error Code 2503):

These errors are most commonly caused by permissions issues with you Windows Temp folder, which can be generally found in C:\Windows\Temp.

Alternative issues can sometimes cause these errors as well, including but not limited to, virus/malware, registry issues, a corrupt Windows Installer, or incompatible 3rd party programs.

There are a number of possible solutions to these issues, as they do not only affect our software, but are common issues for windows applications as a whole, we cannot offer an exhaustive list. Here are the solutions which we have found help most frequently when we see these reports (note that if you have seen this error message in other applications, the solutions provided below will be very much the same) :

Re-Register the Windows installer

1. Press Windows Key + R, then type the following in the run dialog box, and press Enter

msiexec /unreg

2. Open the run dialog box again, type the following and again, press Enter.

msiexec /regserver

3. This will re-register the Windows Installer.

Reboot your PC to save changes.

Manually correct permissions for the Windows install folder

1. Open the File Explorer then click View > Options > Change folder and View options:

2. On the View tab, check Show hidden files, folders, and drivers.” Again in the same window uncheck Hide protected operating system files (Recommended).

3. Click Apply followed by OK.

4. Now navigate to the following path: C:\Windows

5. Look for Installer folder then right-click on it and select Properties.

6. Switch to Security tab and click Edit under Permissions.

7. Next, make sure Full Control is checked for System and Administrators.

8. If not, select them one by one under group or user names then under permissions check Full Control.

9. Click Apply followed by OK.

Reboot your PC to save changes.
